OAKLAND CONCLUDES REGULAR SEASON AT UIC

Golden Grizzlies and Flames kick off on Friday, Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. ET

ROCHESTER, Mich. –
The Oakland women's soccer team closes out the regular season with a Horizon League tilt at UIC on Friday, Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. ET. The match will be broadcast live from Flames Field on ESPN+.
 
MATCH-UP
  • Oakland (6-6-3, 4-2-2 HL) currently sits fifth in the league standings while UIC (10-5-1, 6-2 HL) is in second place
  • The Golden Grizzlies are 3-1-1 over the last five matches against the Flames
  • In last season's match, Sierra Grodsinsky scored the game-winning goal to secure a 1-0 win over the Flames
NOTES
  • The last time out in league play, Jaimie Leas recorded her third shutout of the season leading Oakland to a 0-0 double overtime draw against Horizon League leader Milwaukee on Senior Day. This marked the first time since Sept. 27, 2017 that Milwaukee hadn't scored a goal in a regular season league game.
  • The Golden Grizzlies are also the only team to earn a point against the Panthers in league play which in turn clinched a spot in the upcoming Horizon League Tournament.
  • Alexa Sabbagh leads the team in points (13) and goals (6) which ranks six in the league followed by Sami Lopez (10) in second who also leads the team in assists (4) and ranks second in goals (3)
  • Sierra Grodsinsky (3), Kendra Zak (3) and Nikki May (3) rank second on the team in assists flowed by Ashley Postma (2) and Natalie Abbate (2) in third
  • Taylor Thalheimer (2), Shophie Wilsey (2) and Postma (2) rank second in goals with Brooklyn Blake (1), Postma (1), Sierra Grodsinsky (1) and Carmela Barro (1) each recording a tally on the season
  • Blake netted her first collegiate goal in a 1-0 double overtime win against Youngstown State (9/20)
  • Goalkeeper Jaimie Leas sits eighth in the league in saves per game (3.14)
  • The Golden Grizzlies have already surpassed their goal total from a season ago, now with 18
  • Lopez was named Nike Horizon League Player of the Week (9/2) after scoring two goals against Eastern Kentucky including the overtime game-winner
  • Oakland University is celebrating 25 years of women's soccer this season
