ROCHESTER, Mich. -
For the second consecutive match, Luke Morrell scored a goal as Oakland battled but came up short against No. 15 Marshall on ALS Awareness night on Tuesday. Noah Jensen added an assist while Sullivan Lauderdale made four saves.

Marshall (11-2-3) got on the board first as Milo Yosef scored his 11th goal of the season in the 28th minute.

In the second half, Oakland (7-7-2) regrouped and cashed in the equalizer off a corner kick set piece in the 68th minute. Jensen sent the ball into the box from the right flag stick over to Morrell who was able to connect on a shot into the right side of the net past Marshall keeper Paulo Pita.

Oakland came within inches of taking the lead in the 78th minute as Charlie Braithwaite dove and placed a header that beat Pita to the left side but hit off the bottom of the post keeping the game knotted at 1-1.

Just two minutes later, the Thundering Herd got the game-winner as Jonas Westmeyer bent in a surgical strike off a free kick over the wall and into the upper 90 left corner just past the outstretched reach of Lauderdale.

Oakland resumes Horizon League play against Milwaukee on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m.
