GREEN BAY – Alexa Sabbagh and
Taylor Thalheimer each recorded a goal as the Oakland women's soccer team defeated Green Bay on the road 2-0 Saturday afternoon.

Sabbagh's goal, her sixth of the year, came just a little more than eight minutes into the game. The sophomore dribbled the ball through the back line off a dish from Carmelo Barro and forced the Green Bay keeper to come out and put the ball past her to give Oakland (6-5-2, 4-1-1 HL) an early 1-0 lead.

Just two minutes into the second half, Thalheimer collected the ball off a pass from
Sami Lopez and buried it, putting the Golden Grizzlies up 2-0 over the Phoenix (7-7-1, 1-4-1 HL).Â

Jaimie Leas was solid in net earning her third consecutive win and second straight shut out for Oakland. Leas made six saves on the day.

The Golden Grizzlies return to the Oakland Soccer Field for a pair of games beginning Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. against Northern Kentucky for the annual ALS Awareness game. Oakland will then welcome Milwaukee Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.
