CHICAGO - Noah Jensen recorded a goal just 53 seconds into the game and assisted on
Charlie Braithwaite's team-leading fifth goal of the season giving Oakland a 2-0 halftime lead. However, UIC rallied with two second-half goals and got the golden goal in overtime for a 3-2 win on Saturday afternoon at Flames Field.
Sullivan Lauderdale recorded a season-high 10 saves in goal.
In the second half, UIC (10-4, 4-1 HL) got on the board in the 59th minute and added the equalizer in the 74th minute.
Dylan Borczak, Oakland's (6-6-2, 4-1-1 HL) team leader in points and assists, was accessed a red card in the 82nd minute which proved to be a pivotal point in the match as the Golden Grizzlies had to play a man down the rest of the way.
UIC took advantage as Nkusuwila Zulu notched the game-winning goal in the 94 minute of overtime handing Oakland its first lost in Horizon League play.
Oakland returns home to host Michigan State for Senior Day on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.
