OAKLAND DOMINATES IUPUI TO REMAIN UNDEFEATED IN HORIZON LEAGUE PLAY

Golden Grizzlies get goals from Borczak, Jensen, Braithwaite, Meldrum

10-12-19 vs IUPUI FInal Graphic: Oakland 4, IUPUI 0

ROCHESTER, Mich. -
The battle of Horizon League unbeatens turned out to be a lopsided affair as Oakland rolled to a 4-0 dominating win over IUPUI behind goals from Dylan Borczak, Noah Jensen, Charlie Braithwaite and Mitch Meldrum on Homecoming Saturday. Sullivan Lauderdale picked up his third shutout of the season in league play.

Cameron Wilde, Dawsun Schrum, Mikey Ketteman and Borczak also each recorded an assist.

Oakland (6-4-2, 4-0-1 HL) got on the board first as Braithwaite streaked down the ride side and left a drop off pass to Wilde who fired a shot off the crossbar. However, the ball bounced perfectly down to Borczak who took a touch and then ripped a shot to the left corner for a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute.

In the second half, Ketteman drew a foul inside the box and was awarded a penalty kick in the 51st minute. Jensen calmly stepped up and scored with a knuckleball chip shot that fooled IUPUI (3-6-2, 2-1-2-1 HL) goalkeeper Quinn McCallion.

The Golden Grizzlies kept the pressure on as Borczak pressed hard down the left side drawing three defenders before delivering a cross in front of the box that McCallion missed cutting off. The ball ended up connecting with a wide open Braithwaite who made a sliding shot into the back of the net giving Oakland a commanding 3-0 lead.

In the 87th minute, Schrum tapped the ball up to Ketteman who made a long pass to Meldrum who broke in alone and beat a charging McCallion for his first career goal.

Oakland travels to Dayton for a non-conference match on Tue., Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.
