ROCHESTER, Mich. -- The Oakland men's basketball team will face IUPUI on the road Thursday, Jan. 24 inside Indiana Farmers Coliseum. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and fans can also listen on WDFN-AM (1130) or with the iHeart Radio app.

Thursday's game will tip off at 11 a.m. as part of the Jaguars' participation in the NCAA Readers Become Leaders program, which features thousands of third-grade students in attendance. The program provides third-grade students with incentives, motivation and activities to encourage them to increase their reading proficiency and to maintain grade-appropriate reading levels.

Last time out, Oakland won its fourth-straight game against rival Detroit Mercy by defeating the Titans 79-73 at Calihan Hall as Jaevin Cumberland and Xavier Hill-Mais poured in 24 and 22 points respectively.

  • Cumberland was named Horizon League Player of the Week on Jan. 21 after scoring 24 points and hitting six three-pointers in Oakland's win over Detroit Mercy on Jan. 19.
  • Cumberland is averaging 20.6 points per game in Horizon League play and leads the conference in total minutes (746; fourth in the NCAA) and three-point field goal percentage (43 percent).
  • Cumberland also ranks seventh nationally in three-pointers made (71).
  • This will be the 44th all-time meeting between Oakland and IUPUI. The two teams were conference opponents in the Mid-Continent/Summit League from 1998-2013.
  • Both the Oakland and IUPUI coaching staff will be participating in Suits And Sneakers Week (Jan. 21-27) on Thursday, where college and high school coaches across the nation will wear sneakers with their suits during games to raise awareness for Coaches vs. Cancer and the fight against cancer.
  • From Jan. 19 through Feb. 16, Oakland will play seven of its nine games on the road. 
  • The Golden Grizzlies lead the Horizon League and rank inside the NCAA's top-10 in five categories: total assists (fourth; 356), three-point field goal percentage (fourth; 42 percent), three-pointers made (sixth; 213), three-pointers per game (seventh; 10.7) and assists per game (10th, 17.8).
  • Oakland also leads the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.45 (17th in NCAA).
  • Hill-Mais leads the Horizon League in field goal percentage at 54 percent.
  • Hill-Mais also ranks seventh in the NCAA in field goals made (163), 16th in total points (420) and 26th in points per game (21.0).
  • Freshman Braden Norris leads the Horizon League in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.09), total assists (105) and assists per game (5.3).
