ROCHESTER. Mich. – The Oakland men's and women's swimming and diving teams tallied a combined 26 first place finishes en route to a sweep over Kenyon College Saturday from the Oakland Aquatic Center. The men's team defeated Kenyon 202.5-95.5, while the women's squad won 187-113.

The men's squad swept the top spots in all 16 of their events, while the women recorded 10 of their own.
Mack Flowers swam to first place finishes on the night in the 200 medley relay (1:30.37), 50 freestyle (21.08), 100 butterfly (49.14), and 400 freestyle relay (3:04.65).

Susan LaGrand swam to two first place finishes in the 200 medley relay (1:44.91) and the 100 fly (57.01) and placed second in the 100 back (56.40) and the 200 yard IM (2:07.52).

In diving,
Joe Smith and
Bernie Turchi swept the 1 meter and 3 meter competition. Smith earned a 373.05 in the 1 meter and a 334.95 in the 3 meter. For the women, Turchi scored a 279.82 in the 1 meter and a 241.95 in the 3 meter.

The Golden Grizzlies close out their home schedule next week as the Black and Gold host league foe IUPUI Friday, Jan. 18 at 5 p.m. and Michigan State on Saturday as Oakland honors its seniors beginning at 1 p.m.
