
CHICAGO - Travis Harrington led Oakland's offensive explosion scoring two goals while
Spencer Nolff,
Noah Jensen,
Evan Sawula and
Nebojsa Popovic each added a goal as the Golden Grizzlies rolled past Loyola, 6-1, at the Hampton Inn at Loyola Chicago Classic on Sunday for their third consecutive win. This marked the first time Oakland has scored six goals in a match since defeating Valparaiso, 6-0, on Oct. 25, 2003.
Jensen was named Tournament MVP while Nolff, Harrington and Elliot Bentley each earned All-Tournament Team honors.
Sullivan Lauderdale picked up his third straight win making six saves.
Nolff gave Oakland (3-0-1) a 1-0 lead just 1:47 into the match putting in a deflected shot from Sawula. Harrington got his first goal of the season in the 35th minute and added his second connecting on a strike from 20 yards out off a feed from
AJ Shaw in the 42 minute. Less than a minute later, Jensen scored on a penalty kick giving the Golden Grizzlies a commanding 4-0 at the half.
Sawula added his first goal of the season off a long pass from
Corentin Diverres in the 66th minute while Popovic scored his second consecutive goal off an assist from Jensen to close out the match.
Oakland returns home to open Horizon League play against UIC on Saturday, Sept. 8 at Noon.
