ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland men's soccer team will host Dayton on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. for the Childhood Cancer Awareness game presented by United Shore. The match will be broadcast live from the Oakland Soccer Field on ESPN+ with the voice of the Golden Grizzlies Neal Ruhl and legendary coach Gary Parsons. Fans are encouraged to wear gold to show support of the childhood cancer awareness cause.

Notes:
- Both teams have split the last two home meetings with Dayton winning last season, 6-2, and Oakland winning 1-0 during the 2016 campaign. The Golden Grizzlies lead the overall series 10-4-5.

- Oakland snapped a two-game skid in thrilling fashion as Detroit native Dylan Borczak scored the game-winning goal with just 43 seconds left in overtime giving Oakland a 1-0 Metro Series win at arch-rival Detroit Mercy for its first Horizon League win of the season on Saturday (9/15).

- As a team, Oakland currently ranks third in the conference in points (46), goals (16), assists (14) and saves (29).

- Individually, Nebojsa Popovic ranks third in assists (5) and fifth in points (9) while Travis Harrington is tied for sixth in assists (3) and ninth in points (7). Sullivan Lauderdale ranks second in saves (29) and tied for third in shutouts (1).

- The Golden Grizzles dropped a hard-fought battle at #3 Michigan State, 4-2, (9/10). Popovic recorded assists on both goals while Evan Sawula and Alfa Barry had an assist each. Jacob Moore scored his second goal of the season while Luke Morrell scored his first career goal off a deflected shot.

- Oakland opened Horizon League play with its first loss of the season against two-time defending champion UIC, 4-1, (Sept 8) in which Corentin Diverres scored his second goal of the season.

- Prior to the loss to UIC, the Golden Grizzlies were No. 20 in the Top Drawer Soccer.com Top-25 National Ranking. Oakland also received six votes in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll and ranked No. 7 in the North Region Poll (consisting of just schools in the Big Ten, MAC and Horizon League conferences) and also received votes in the College Soccer News Top-30 National Poll.

- Noah Jensen was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for the period ending Sept. 2 and also was named Nike Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week after helping Oakland to a perfect 3-0 road record for the week from his defensive midfield position including a 2-0 mark at the Hampton Inn at Loyola Chicago Classic in which the Golden Grizzlies allowed only two total goals in wins at DePaul and Loyola. Offensively, he also scored a goal off a penalty kick and recorded an assist in the 6-1 win over the Ramblers and was named All-Tournament Team MVP.

- The 6-1 thumping of Loyola (9/2) marked the first time Oakland has scored six goals in a match since defeating Valparaiso, 6-0, on Oct. 25, 2003.

- During Oakland's three road wins over Marshall (8/27), DePaul (8/32) and Loyola, nine different players scored goals led by Nebojsa Popovic (2G, 3A – 7 pts.) followed by Travis Harrington (2G, 2A – 6 pts.), Corentin Diverres (1G, 2A – 3 pts.), Jensen (1G, 1A – 3 pts.), Evan Sawula (1G, 1A – 3 pts.), Dawsun Schrum (1G, - 2 pts.), Napoleon Outlaw III (1G, - 2 pts.), Spencer Nolff (1G, - 2 pts.) and Jacob Moore (1G, - 2 pts.).
