
CHICAGO - Nebojsa Popovic connected on a penalty kick and assisted on
Corentin Diverres' first career goal as Oakland won its second consecutive road game holding off DePaul, 2-1, at the Hampton Inn Chicago Classic on Friday at Wish Field.
Sullivan Lauderdale picked up the win in goal making three saves.
Diverres put the Golden Grizzlies (2-0-1) on the board with a shot in the upper right corner during the 60th minute. Just 26 second later, Popovic drew a foul inside the box resulting in a penalty kick opportunity in which he cashed in beating DePaul (1-2-0) keeper Drew Nuelle to the low right side giving Oakland a 2-0 lead.
The Golden Grizzlies close out Chicago Classic play at Loyola on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. ET.
