May 17, 2018 ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Oakland women's soccer head coach Juan Pablo Favero announced the addition of Kai Edwards to the coaching staff Thursday.

"I am excited for the opportunity to join a great staff and University," Edwards said. "JuanPa is a class act and his vision for building this program is positively infectious. I am looking forward to helping the program anyway I can to maximize the student-athlete experience"
Edwards joins the Golden Grizzlies after spending last season as an assistant coach and director of recruiting for the University of Michigan's women's soccer program.
"I have know Kai from my time at San Diego State and have always been impressed with his soccer knowledge, professionalism and just as importantly his contagious positive energy," Favero said. "We are very excited to have Kai join our team of coaches and know he will add tremendous value to our program in every aspect."
The San Pedro, Calif. native has garnered 15 years of collegiate coaching experience, including six years as head coach at Saint Mary's College of California where he coached 21 All-WCC honorees.
"His extensive experience both at the NCAA Division I level and at some of the top youth clubs in the Nation will prove invaluable to us," Favero said. "He has coached at top level programs in the Big10 and the PAC12, and it is not every day you can add someone with Division I head coaching experience to your staff so I am beyond grateful to welcome Kai to our program."
