CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Madison Jones went 2-for-3 with one RBI, one run scored and drew one walk while Hayley Bartholomew earned her first career win on the mound as Oakland defeated Florida Atlantic 9-8 in its opening game in the Michelle Smith National Pediatric Cancer Foundation Invite.
With the game tied at 7-7 in the sixth inning, Jamie Squires ripped a bases-clearing triple to score Rachel Zerona and Jones. After earning its opening day win in 2017, Oakland has recorded back-to-back season opening wins for the first time since 2006 and 2007.

In game two, Cammie Brummitt hit her first career home run in the first inning to finish 1-for-2 with one RBI, and drew two walks as the Golden Grizzlies fell 5-2 to Marshall.
Brittney Miller hit a sacrifice fly in the third inning for the other Oakland run.
The Golden Grizzlies will return to action Sunday, Feb. 18 for its final two games of the tournament against No. 19 Oklahoma State at 9 a.m. and UMass-Lowell at 11:15 a.m.
