
ROCHESTER, Mich. - Kahlaijah Dean scored 14 points and grabbed a career-high six steals while
Taylor Jones added a game-high 15 points as Oakland turned in a solid defensive effort with a season-best 18 steals en route to a 64-46 win over Rochester College on Community Night at the O'rena.
Teneea Heston and
Brianna Breedy also added a career-best four and three steals respectively while helping the Golden Grizzlies force 30 Rochester College turnovers leading to 31 points.
Despite the Warriors' zone defense, Oakland was able to utilize their forward's height and size advantage down low to score 38 points in the paint while grabbing a season second-best 50 rebounds leading to a 20-8 second chance points advantage.
After leading by the three in the first quarter, the Golden Grizzlies outscored Rochester College 20-7 in the second quarter and went on a 9-0 to open up the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
Oakland begins Horizon League play against Cleveland State on Friday, Dec. 28 at 7 p.m.
