TIFFIN, Ohio - The Golden Grizzlies had a strong opening to their season this afternoon at Tiffin University Open Alumni Meet.
Zach Stadnika ran the 60m Hurdles in 8.21, placing third and setting a new school record. The record had been standing since 2011.
Paige Sanders recorded a first place finish in the long jump with a mark of 17 ft., 9.5 in. In addition,
Rachel Levy dominated the women's one-mile, placing first with a time of 5:04.99.
Brad Mallory led the men's distance heat, placing first in the 3000m with a mark of 9:13.61.
The day proved to be a great day for sprinters as a number of athletes finished in the tops of their heats.
Corey Goodloe placed second in the 800m (2:02.22) and
Jimmie Williams placed second in both the 300m (35.68) and the 600m (1:25.50).
In addition,
Malcolm McIntyre placed second in the 200m with a time of 22.81 and
Briana Walker and
Nicole Martinbianco placed third and sixth, respectively in the women's heat.
The sprint medley of Gardner, Newburg, Pencak and Earles took first in the women's 4x400m with a time of 4:04.96.
Oakland will continue competition next weekend, Dec. 7-8 at Saginaw Valley State University.
