
AKRON, Ohio – Senior 
Joe Smith set a meet and pool record on the 3 mtr dive with the score of 379.05 (DI B Cut) on the opening day of the Zippy Invitational as the Oakland men sit in first place (726.5), while the women's swimming and diving team finished the day in fourth (336).
 
Paul Huch recorded three first place finishes of his own in the 200 free relay (1:21.70), 50 free (20.04) and 400 medley relay (3:18.15).
 
The men's squad also earned the top four finishes in the 500 Free, with 
Micah DeJonge finishing first (4:33.07), 
Danylo Hrebelnyi second (4:34.98), 
Rudy Aguilar-Fernandez third (4:35.43) and 
Ben Davis fourth (4:39.54)
 
On the women's side 
Bernie Turchi placed fourth in the 1 mtr dive with a score of 235.80.
 
The Golden Grizzlies tallied five first place finishes on the opening night of competition and will be back in action Saturday, Dec. 1 beginning at 9 a.m.
