Ezzat, Subagyo, and Palvadre to Compete in World Aquatic Cup

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University's swimming and diving team is sending three athletes to Carmel, Indiana, this weekend to participate in the World Aquatic Cup.

The World Aquatics Swimming World Cup is an international series of swimming meets organized by World Aquatics (AQUA) in conjunction with the National Federation and Organizers concerned. Launched in 1988, the Swimming World Cup gathers world-class swimmers in a series of 3-day meets organized between August and November each year. The 2025 Series includes stops in Carmel, Indiana (10-12 Oct), Westmont, Illinois (17-19 Oct), and Toronto, Canada (23-25 Oct). Over 50 National Federations from five continents are expected to participate in this year's competition.

The Golden Grizzly swimmers representing their home countries are Christopher Palvadre (Estonia), Nicholas Karel Subagyo (Indonesia), and Ajjuub Ezzat (Finland).

Palvadre will compete in three breaststroke events: the 50, 100, and 200. In Oakland's first meet against Youngstown State, Palvadre swept each event, taking the gold. He currently holds Oakland University's all-time best record in the 200 breast (1:55.33) and the third-best time in the 100 (52.83). He is also the reigning Horizon League champion in the 100 and 200 events.

Ezzat is scheduled to compete in the 100 free and the 100 and 200 backstroke events. The freshman took two first-place and two second-place finishes in the back against Youngstown State. This will be his first time competing in the 100 free that is not a part of a medley this season.

Subagyo will participate in the most events, including the 200, 400, and 1500 freestyle events and the 200 and 400 medley. At the Youngstown State meet, Subagyo won four out of five free events he competed in. Last year at the Horizon League Championships, he achieved a top-five finish in three freestyle events. Subagyo currently holds the ninth all-time record in OU history in the 200 free.

The World Aquatic Cup will be held from Oct. 10-12, beginning at 10 A.M. (ET) each day with prelims. Finals for the events held that day will take place at 6 P.M. (ET).

Complete information about the event can be found on USA Swimming, and live results can be followed at OMEGA Timing.
