
NORMAL, Ill. - Myka Cromwell posted a career-high 13 points shooting 5-for-9 from the floor and 3-for-6 from behind the arc as Oakland came up short against Illinois State on Thursday night at Redbird Arena.
Chloe Guingrich added 11 points just missing a double-double with nine rebounds while
Kayla Luchenbach also added a career-high six points.
It was a game of runs throughout as Illinois State (2-4) opened the contest with a 15-0 run in the first quarter. Oakland (2-5) responded defensively in the second quarter scoring 14-of-16 points off Redbird turnovers capped off by a 7-0 run to close out the half trailing 28-21.
The Golden Grizzlies opened the third quarter on a 8-0 run cutting the lead to 34-32 but Illinois State went on a 9-0 run of their own to end the frame. Despite outscoring the Redbirds 24-19 in the fourth, Oakland could only get within four points down the stretch.
