KENT, OHIO - LaKyesha Stennis scored a career-high 16 points going 4-for-7 from 3-point range with six rebounds off the bench while
Brianna Breedy also added a career-mark of 13 points shooting 4-of-8 from the floor and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line as Oakland opened Kent State Classic play with a 85-65 setback to Akron on Saturday.
Teneea Heston was also the third player to reach double figures with a career-high 14 points going 5-for-9 from the field and 2-for-3 from behind the arc.
Despite scoring 19 and 24 points in the second and fourth quarter respectively, the Golden Grizzlies' offense had trouble in the first and third quarters only scoring 11 points while Akron shot 48 percent from the field and 3-point range for the game which proved to be the difference.
Oakland concludes KSU Classic play against host Kent State on Sunday, Nov. 18 at 1:30 p.m.
