GOLDEN GRIZZLIES TAKE ON NKU IN HORIZON LEAGUE QUARTERFINALS

Oakland enters the game as the No. 6 seed, NKU set as No. 3 seed

ROCHESTER, Mich. –
The Oakland women's soccer team will play in the Horizon League Championship quarterfinals Monday, Oct. 29 against Northern Kentucky at 7 p.m. from the NKU Soccer Stadium. Monday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
 
The Golden Grizzlies (3-11-3, 3-3-3 HL) enter the tournament as the No. 6 seed, while the Norse (10-5-1, 6-2-1 HL) head into Monday's game as the No. 3 seed.
 
The winner of Monday's game will travel to host Milwaukee and take on the No. 1 seed Panthers Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. in the semifinals. The Championship game will be played Saturday, November 3 at 5 p.m. (ET).
 
THE MATCH-UP
  • Oakland will face off against NKU for the second time in just three games.
  • In the first meeting, Oakland dropped a close one, 2-1 on the road.  Emma Voelker tied the game up in the 83rd minute at 1-1, but with just three minutes remaining, NKU scored the go-ahead goal.
  • Northern Kentucky enters Monday's match with an impressive 7-1-0 record at home, with its only loss coming in its regular season home finale to league favorite Milwaukee.

  • Monday's match will mark the first appearance in the Horizon League Championship under the guidance of Head Coach JuanPa Favero, who is in his second year at the helm of the Oakland women's soccer program
  • Senior Maya Pascal was named to the Horizon League Women's Soccer All-Academic Team on Friday, the first to receive this honor since the 2013 season.
  • The Golden Grizzlies have scored seven goals on the year, with each goal coming from a different player.
  • Oakland enters the quarterfinals on a two-game win streak, shutting out its opponent in the last two meetings.
  • Goalkeeper Jaimie Leas has registered five shutouts in Horizon League play.
