
ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland men's soccer team resumes Horizon League play with a showdown against No. 23 Wright State on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. in the ALS Awareness Game. The match will be broadcast live from the Oakland Soccer Field on ESPN+ with the voice of the Golden Grizzlies

Notes:
- Wright State (9-1-2) currently sits atop the league standings with an unbeaten mark of 3-0-1. WSU's only loss came in a non-conference match, 2-1, at No. 14 Virginia (10/2). The Raiders are also the third nationally ranked team Oakland will play this season. The Golden Grizzlies came up short against No. 14 Michigan, 2-1, in front of a new Oakland Soccer Field record attendance of 2,344 at the Fill the Hill Game (10/3) and fell in a hard-fought battle at No. 3 Michigan State, 4-2, (9/10).
- The last time out, Oakland got off to a slow start falling at instate rival WMU, 3-0, on Tuesday.

Nebojsa Popovic was named Nike Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after posting six points off three goals to lead the Golden Grizzlies to a 1-1 record for the week. He scored two goals helping Oakland to a pivotal 3-1 league win over Northern Kentucky (10/6). Popovic also scored Oakland's only goal in a 2-1 setback against No. 14 Michigan (10/3).
- As a team, Oakland ranks fourth in conference in goals (23), assists (22), points (68) and second in saves (56). Additionally, the team earned the 2017-18 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the sixth consecutive year and ninth overall.
- Individually, Popovic leads the team and is tied for fourth in the conference in assists (6) tied for sixth in points (16) and ranks seventh in goals (5) while
Sullivan Lauderdale ranks second in saves (55) and fifth in shutouts (2).
