ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Jalen Hayes led all scorers with a career high 37 points as the Oakland men's basketball team defeated Eastern Michigan 86-81 Friday night in front of 3,661 fans, the largest home crowd of the season inside the O'rena.
Hayes went 14-for-21 from the floor and added eight rebounds. Kendrick Nunn recorded 20 points and dished out six assists. Martez Walker and Nick Daniels rounded out the double-digit scoring performances for Oakland chipping in 12 and 10 points respectively.
Daniels hit a three-pointer with 51 seconds remaining in regulation to give Oakland a six point lead and sealed the win.
Julius Palmer played a career high 26 minutes while pulling down a game and career high 11 boards.
The Golden Grizzlies' (8-5) win over the Eagles (8-3) marks the last non-conference game of the season as Oakland will open Horizon League play Thursday, Dec. 28 at Milwaukee at 8 p.m. (ET).
