BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Oakland volleyball team split its first two matches of the season dropping its season opener to No. 23 Louisville 3-1 and defeating Bowling Green in straight sets during the opening day of the Hampton Inn Invitational Friday at the Stroh Center.

Melissa Deatsch combined for 27 kills, 19 digs and three service aces on the day. Her service ace against Louisville in the first set made her Oakland's all-time career leader in service aces (130). Darien Bandel combined for 21 kills, while Darrin Rice and Alli Gutschow combined for 24 and 12 digs respectively.
