OAKLAND LANDS THREE PLAYERS ON ALL-HORIZON LEAGUE TEAMS

- Three Oakland softball student-athletes earned Horizon League postseason honors announced by the league office on Tuesday. Sarah Hartley was a first-team selection, Haley Zemmer garnered second-team honors along with Brittney Miller who was also named to the all-freshman team.

Hartley, a previous second-team selection from Birch Run, Mich., led the team in home runs (7), doubles (9) and hits (53) which ranked ninth in the league. She finished second on the team and 10th in the league in batting (.353), ranked fourth in slugging percentage (.580), seventh in total bases (87) and second in steals (29). Hartley also was one of three players in the league tied for seventh with seven home runs. Earlier this season, she hit a two-run inside the park home run to move past Ericka Burns (2000-03) for the most career home runs in program history with 19 helping Oakland upend the University of Detroit Mercy, 7-2, (Apr. 20).

Zemmer, a previous all-freshman team selection from Troy, Mich., posted a 10-14 record with 16 complete games ranking third in ERA (2.15) and strikeouts (96), fourth in innings pitched (146.1) and sixth in league opposing batting average (.261). Zemmer helped Oakland's pitching staff to a league-best ERA (2.15) while ranking second in opposing batting average (.247) in conference-only statistics. She tossed a one-hit complete game shutout with nine strikeouts losing her no-hit bid with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning against YSU (Apr. 1).

At the plate, Zemmer tallied 17 hits, five runs and recorded her first career home run with a three-run shot leading Oakland to a doubleheader split at Green Bay (May 3).

Miller, from Canton, Mich., led the team and ranked ninth in the league in batting (.360), seventh in on-base percentage (.467), while leading the team in RBI (25) and doubles (9). Her first career home run was a grand slam propelling Oakland to a win over Ava Maria (2/24).
