YPSILANTI, Mich. - Sarah Hartley went 2-for-3 with a two-run double while Laura Pond picked her first career save striking out two in 1.1 innings of relief including getting out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh inning as Oakland (8-19) held off Eastern Michigan, 6-5, on Tuesday afternoon at Varsity Field.
Haley Zemmer picked up the win not allowing an earned run in 5.2 innings of work with two strikeouts. In addition to Hartley, Mikayela Marciniak and Kelsie Swanson each had two hits with Danielle Szajna going 1-for-2 to account for all of Oakland's seven hits.
The Golden Grizzlies return to league play at home in a Metro Series driven by Trinity Transportation showdown with rival University of Detroit Mercy on Monday, April 18 at 2 p.m.
