ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland men's golfer Evan Bowser will travel to Indiana this week to compete in the NCAA Regionals, hosted by Ball State, in Noblesville, Ind. at The Sagamore Club (par 72, 7,173 yards). Bowser will tee off Thursday for round one at 10:12 a.m.
Bowser earned a spot in the regional after winning the Horizon League Championship on April 26. He finished the tournament tied with Cleveland State's Michael Balcar with a 4-over-par 220 and won the second playoff hole to earn the regional selection. He is just the fourth player in program history to win the conference tournament and the first since PGA Tour professional Brian Stuard in 2005.
The junior from Dearborn, Mich. earned Horizon League All-League honors after posting a stroke average of just over 73. He is the first Oakland player to garner all-league accolades in his first three seasons, while earning three top-five and six top-10 finishes this season.
Bowser is Oakland's career stroke-average leader, passing Stuard this year, with a 73.59 over three seasons. He also broke Stuard's record for most career rounds under par at the Horizon League Championship with 22.
The NCAA Noblesville Regional includes 14 seeded teams and five individuals. 54 holes will be played over three days with the top five teams and the top individual not associated with one of those teams advancing to the NCAA Nationals in Florida, May 29-June 3. The Sagamore Club is a Jack Nicklaus designed course that hosted the 2010 NCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championship.
Live scoring of the NCAA Men's Golf Noblesville Regional will be available at GolfStat.com.
