ROCHESTER, Mich. - Softball player Sara Cupp has been named Oakland's Student-Athlete of the Week, for the week of May 4-10, after being named Tournament MVP and leading the Golden Grizzlies to an appearance in the NCAA Tournament by winning the Horizon League Championship on Saturday.

Cupp, a native of Hartland, Mich., was named the Horizon League Tournament's MVP and Batting Champion after hitting .750 in three games while driving in five runs. She hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning of the championship game to give Oakland a 7-3 victory over Wright State. Oakland advanced to its first NCAA Regional since 2003.

The Golden Grizzlies will travel to the No. 3 Michigan Regional on Friday and face the Wolverines at 6 p.m. from Wilpon Complex and will be broadcasted live on ESPNU.
