April 11, 2015 Day 1 Results
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Evan Bowser posted a 67 (-4) in his second round on Saturday to get within one shot of the lead (139/-3) to help Oakland to a third-place standing on day one of the NYX Hoosier Invitational at the IU Golf Course (Par 71, 6,813 yards). The Golden Grizzlies shot 574 (+6) and are nine shots off the lead held by Wisconsin.
"All five guys worked hard for all 36 holes and it totally shows in the end result today," said coach Mark Engel. "Evan played well this morning, but didn't make all his putts. He put it all together in the afternoon for one of the best rounds of the day."
Bowser now has 21 career rounds under par, matching current PGA Tour player Brian Stuard (2001-05). His 67 was his second round in the 60s this season, one off his season best.
"It's great that Evan has tied Brian's (Stuard) record, who's one of Oakland's all-time greats. He has a lot more great rounds to go, starting tomorrow if things keep going his way."
Jimmy Jaskoske carded the second sub-par round for the Golden Grizzlies, finishing with a 70 in his opening 18 holes. He is currently in a tie for 16th place with a 36-hole score of 143 (+1).
Oakland (+6) will be paired with tournament leaders Wisconsin (-3) and Toledo (E). The three teams will tee off at 9 a.m. ET. Fans can follow all the action on live scoring.
