"Even though we are not happy with the loss today, what I liked about this game is even though we weren't playing good defense, we were down a run and tied it up in the seventh," said head coach Connie Miner. "This team is amazing that way and they always get us back in a game somehow. We left a lot of people on base, which is positive that we are getting runners on, we just have to be more consistent in all areas, keep leaning and keep moving forward."
After MTSU took a 1-0 lead, Morales hit a towering shot to right center field giving Oakland a 2-1 advantage in the bottom of the first inning.
MTSU tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the fourth before the Golden Grizzles took a 5-2 lead with three runs on four hits highlighted by Hartley's lead-off home run, Muron's two-RBI single and double from Cupp.
MTSU added two runs in the fifth and sixth inning off five total hits and capitalized on two Oakland errors to take a 6-5 lead. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Bindus came through in the clutch with a RBI single to score Salinas tying the game at 6-6.
Heading into the eighth inning with the International Tiebreaker Rule in play, the game wouldn't stay tied for long as ETSU added two runs and an unearned run to take 9-6 advantage.
