ROCHESTER, Mich. - Proving their success is not limited to the pool, the Oakland men's and women's swimming and diving programs were recognized Monday by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as winners of the 2014 Fall CSCAA Scholar All-America Team award, supported by Nike Swim.
On the men's side, the Golden Grizzlies combined for a 3.32 team grade-point average for the fall, 2014 semester. That team effort ranked 13th higest in the nation accoring to the CSCAA.
The women's side was also recognized by the CSCAA with their team GPA of 3.25 for the fall, 2014 semester.
The Fall Team Scholar All American award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher in the fall semester/quarter.
Oakland will prepare to defend their Horizon League Swimming and Diving championships this week when the Golden Grizzlies participate in the 2015 Horizon League Championship Feb. 25-28 at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer, Wis. The Championship is hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
