Oakland responded with seven of the first eight points out of the break, with a Sinclair Russell layup making it a 52-38 game with 18:32 to go. But Wright State came back with a 14-5 run of their own to regain momentum the rest of the way.
Beth Mahurin matched a season-high with eight points off the bench for Oakland. Russell missed a double-double with eight points to go with a team-best 10 rebounds. Popkey also had six of the team's 12 assists.
