ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland men's golf team travels to Ohio on Monday and Tuesday to play in the CSU Invitational, hosted by Cleveland State, Monday and Tuesday from Barrington Country Club (par 72, 7,138 yards) in Aurora, Ohio. The 54-hole tournament will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday with 36 holes followed by the final round being played on Tuesday.
The Golden Grizzlies are coming off a ninth-place finish last week at the Derek Dolenc Invitational, hosted by SIUE. Evan Bowser finished fifth and broke the school record for lowest 54-hole tournament score by posting a 205 (-8). Jake Kneen earned a top-20 finish with a 215 (+2) after posting an even-par second round.
Bowser returns for his senior season after winning the Horizon League Championship last season and tying for 33rd at the NCAA Regionals. After being named an All-Horizon League selection last year, Bowser became the first player in program history to be an all-league selection his first three seasons. He broke the school record for career rounds under-par and is the school's career stroke-average leader at 73.49.
The reigning Horizon League Freshman of the Year, Kneen, is coming off an exciting summer where he competed in the United States Amateur Championship at Olympia Fields finishing with a 148 (+8). Jacob Johnson earned an alternate spot for the U.S. Amateur and comes back after earning All-Tournament Team honors at the Horizon League Championship last season. Marc Norton and Connor Jones will officially make their first appearances with the Golden Grizzlies.
