ROCHESTER, Mich. - Melissa Deatsch led Oakland with 15 kills and 15 digs as the Golden Grizzlies defeated Bowling Green in three sets Friday evening in the first day of action at the Golden Grizzlies Invitational at the Athletic Center O'rena. Oakland defeated the Falcons 25-22, 25-20, 25-21.

"Our performance under pressure towards the end of sets was really good," Oakland head coach Rob Beam said. "Ciara (Schultz) ran a great offense, and our hitters terminated. You have to do those things in order to win late."

Jessica Dood added 14 kills thanks to a .524 attack percentage, while Cassie Pelloni added 10 kills on the night. Helping the effort was Ciara Schultz's 39 assists. As a team, Oakland hit .216 with 48 kills over the three-set match.

The victory extended Oakland's winning streak to five matches, the longest for the team since a five-match win streak lifted the Golden Grizzlies to the 2013 Horizon League Tournament.

UC Irvine 3, Robert Morris 0
In the second match of the night, UC Irvine (8-4) was led by Allison Lee's 15 kills, while Marisa Bubica added 12 kills to lead the Anteaters to a 25-22, 25-16, 25-11 victory over Robert Morris (1-11).

Tournament action resumes Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. when UC Irvine takes on Bowling Green, with Oakland vs. Robert Morris to follow at 12 p.m. For tournament information, visit the Golden Grizzlies Tournament Central page.
