ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland cross country runner Ashley Burr has been named Oakland's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 8-14 after winning the UW-Parkside Midwest Open.

Burr, a sophomore from Midland, Mich., captured the women's 5K title in the Wisconsin-Parkside Midwest Open on Saturday, Sept. 13 with a time of 18:20.2. It is her second victory of the season as she also won the Golden Grizzlies Open on Aug. 29. Burr defeated runners from both Milwaukee and Green Bay on the same course that will play host to the Horizon League Championship on Nov. 1.

The men's and women's cross country teams will be in action on Oct. 3 at the Notre Dame Invite hosted by the Fighting Irish.
