ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland women's soccer team concludes their home stand against Michigan State on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. at the OU Soccer Field. The past two seasons, the Golden Grizzles and Spartans have played consecutive double-overtime draws, 1-1 in 2013 and 0-0 in 2012.

Match Notes
• Oakland (1-3) recorded a 4-0 win over Saginaw Valley State (Aug 28) before dropping a hard fought match against Illinois, 1-0, in overtime (Aug. 31).
• The victory against SVSU was the first career win for Margaret Saurin as head coach. Kendra Prince recorded her first career goal and assist while Vlad Gurovski also tallied her first career goal.
• Jenna Taylor and Kyla Kellermann also scored their first goals of the season against SVSU while Jenny Rosonke tallied her first assist of the season.
• Alison Holland recorded her first career shutout against SVSU. She went 187.21 minutes without allowing a goal making 12 total saves before Illinois scored in overtime. Holland and the defense held Illinois' Jannelle Flaws, the nation's leading scorer last season, without a goal.
• Oakland was picked second in the 2014 Horizon League Women's Soccer Preseason Poll, as announced by the league office this week and voted on by the league's nine head coaches. The Golden Grizzles earned two first-place votes and 51 points overall.
Scouting the Spartans
• Michigan State is 3-0 on the season coming off back-to-back shutout wins at Cal State Fullerton, 1-0 (Aug. 24) and home against Eastern Michigan, 3-0 (Aug. 29).
• MSU is led by freshman forward Jamie Cheslik who leads the team in points (5) and is tied for the team lead in goals (2) with junior forward Rachel Van Poppelen.
• Senior goalkeeper Courtney Clem anchors the team defensively recording two consecutive shutouts earning Big Ten Defensive Player of the week honors. She has 22 saves on the year which is tied for the most among Big Ten goalkeepers, ranks second in save percentage (.957) and third in goals against average (0.33) in the conference.
• Last season, MSU finished 9-8-2 overall placing 10th in the Big Ten at 3-8-0. They were picked to finish 12th in the 2014 Big Ten Preseason Poll.
