ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland's Joan Sieja, Kyla Kellermann, Alice Palmer, Jamie Horne and Sarah Reynolds garnered preseason All-Horizon League honors, announced by College Sports Madness. Sieja was picked to the first team, while Kellermann, Palmer, Horne and Reynolds were tabbed second team.
Kellerman scored a team-best eight goals last year, while Sieja dished out a team-high eight assists, second in the Horizon League. Palmer was named to the 2013 Horizon League All-Freshman Team after tallying two goals and five assists, while Horne added a goal and three assist. Reynolds finished last year with three goals from her defensive back position.
The 2014 campaign marks the debut of first-year head coach Margaret Saurinwho is only the second head coach in program history. Saurin spent the last seven seasons as head coach of the IPFW women's soccer program where she was named The Summit League Coach of the Year in 2012.
The Golden Grizzlies will host St. Bonaventure and Toledo for exhibition matches on Aug. 14 and 16. Game times are set for 3 and 7 p.m. and can be seen on the Horizon League Network.
