ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland will open the spring season this Monday and Tuesday in Florida at the Central District Invitational at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club. Michigan State will serve as the host and all 54 holes will be played on Cypress Links Course.
A total of 14 teams will compete in the tournament, including No. 14 Vanderbilt, No. 20 MSU and No. 21 UCF. Also inside the top 55 in the field are No. 41 Louisville, No. 44 Notre Dame, No. 52 SMU and No. 55 Minnesota. The Golden Grizzlies are No. 191 as they start the spring season in the latest golfstat.com rankings.
This will be the first time OU is competing in this prestigious event. Oakland is led by senior Kassandra Komma with a scoring average of 79.00 in the fall. She ranks sixth in the Horizon League.
Sophomore Haylee Zyber finished 11th in the league with a stroke average of 80.67. Freshman Danielle Crilley stands tied for 12th with a scoring clip of 81.00.
Live scoring will be kept for the tournament, which will be a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Monday morning.
