KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Oakland women's tennis team participated in its lone scheduled competition of the fall this weekend, facing off against Chicago State, IUPUI and host Western Michigan in a modified tournament.

Oakland's Karine Celis and Juliana Guevara went 2-1 in doubles play, earning two tie-breaker victories on the weekend.

In singles, Tamara Blum went 1-1 overall and was tied 4-4 in her match against IUPUI before the event was halted for the evening on Friday. Celis was also 1-1 in singles and also had a tie against IUPUI before play was suspended.

"We played very well in doubles this weekend," Oakland head coach Heather Redshaw said. "We also had good play in singles, and it was good to get out and compete against strong opponents."

Oakland will begin the spring portion of their 2014-15 campaign Jan. 18 at Michigan State.
