ROCHESTER, Mich. - Michael Cox has been named the Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of Aug. 26 - Sept. 1, announced the Horizon League office on Tuesday afternoon. Cox is being recognized as runner of the week for the first time in his career.

On Friday, Cox ran in the Golden Grizzly Open and won the 5K event with a time of 15:50.2, over seven seconds better than his personal record. With the win, he also led the Golden Grizzlies to a first place team finish.

Oakland next runs in the 27th Annual Running Fit-Detroit Titan Invitational at Cass Benton Park in Northville, Mich. with the women's race beginning at 11:15 a.m. and the men's event to follow at 11:45 a.m.
