ROCHESTER, Mich.- A quick one-two punch from Meghan Reynolds and Joan Sieja gave Oakland women's soccer what it needed in a 2-1 victory over Northern Kentucky Friday night at OU Soccer Field. With the win, Oakland improves to 3-3-1 while Northern Kentucky saw a three-game winning streak end to drop to 3-3-1.

The duo scored in the game's first 13 minutes on Oakland's first two shots on goal for the game, as the Golden Grizzlies registered an 18-13 shots advantage on the night.

"We created a number of opportunities; we worked on goal scoring during the course of the week," said interim head coach Dave Morgan. "We're taking much better shots when the opportunities are there."

Reynolds set the tone early in the sixth minute, racing down the right flank and blasting a 20-yard shot to the far post for the game's first goal. Sieja took her turn in the 13th minute, combining with Jamie Horne with a shot from close range to double the team's lead.

Oakland's precise placement was unable to put more tallies on the board. Four of the team's 18 shots on the night hit the goal structure: three off of the crossbar and one off the post.

Northern Kentucky answered to get one goal back in the 80th minute, but the Norse was unable to register the equalizer.

Oakland's Payj O'Shea made four saves in goal, while NKU's counterpart Tanner Ruberg made four saves of her own.

Oakland heads to the Windy City Sunday, Sept. 15 for a 2 p.m. ET game against Northwestern.
