ROCHESTER, Mich. - Chase Jabbori scored two goals in the extra time to lead the Oakland men's soccer team to a 3-1 win over Saginaw Valley State in the final exhibition match of the season Saturday night at the OU Soccer Field.

"Saginaw Valley is a great team and we knew we were going to be up for a stiff challenge," said coach Eric Pogue. "They really made us dig deep and figure out a way to win as it was exciting in the overtime period to see our young guys really step up to the challenge."

Jabbori scored his first goal in the 106th minute to break a 1-1 tie as he was able to make a move around the goalkeeper and put the ball in the back of the net. He would strike again in the 114th minute as he got a pass from Matt Wilson and took a shot that beat the keeper on the left side of the net.

The Golden Grizzlies got on the board first in the opening half as Shawn Claud Lawson put in a header from Gavin Hoy in the 12th minute. The Cardinals would tie the match in the 17th minute as Sadik Balarabe got past the defense and slotted the ball past Scott Messer.

The OU defense held SVSU to only three shots on goal as Messer, and Eliott Tarney had one save each. The Golden Grizzlies outshot the Cardinals 21-8 in the match.

Oakland will begin the regular season on the road next week as they travel to Pittsburgh to face the Panthers on Friday, Aug. 30 starting at 7:30 p.m.
