Oakland Hosts Kent State in Exhibition Play Saturday

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Already through the first week of preseason, Oakland will entertain Kent State Saturday, Aug. 17 in a 3 p.m. ET exhibition contest at OU Soccer Field.

Admission is free for Saturday's exhibition. For those that can't make the game, live stats will be available through ougrizzlies.com. Links will be active at game time.

Scouting the Golden Grizzlies
• Oakland was predicted to finish fourth in the eight-team Horizon League race in 2013 in a preseason poll of conference coaches.

• A 2012 participant in the NCAA second round and both the Summit League's regular season and tournament champions, Oakland posted an 11-6-4 record last fall. Four players reached double figures in scoring in 2012, including returning forward Kyla Kellermann (9g-4a-22p) and midfielder Abigail Haelewyn (3g-9a-15p). Defensively, Oakland had a 1.00 goals-against average last fall, aided by 10 shutouts.

• Last season, Oakland was 11-2-3 when scoring at least one goal; on the defensive side, the Golden Grizzlies were 10-1-3 when allowing one goal or less.

Scouting the Opponent
• Kent State went 13-5-2 during the 2012 season, advancing to the Mid-American Conference semifinals. The Golden Flashes are led by Jaclyn Dutton, who tallied 37 points last fall on 15 goals and seven assists. Goalkeeper Stephanie Senn posted eight shutouts in registering a 0.84 goals-against average.

Next Up
Oakland will begin the 2013 regular season Friday, Aug. 23 on the road at Eastern Illinois (6-12-1 in 2012) for a 4 p.m. ET kickoff. The Golden Grizzlies will then travel to the University of Michigan Sunday, Aug. 25 for a 2 p.m. ET contest.
