Day 1 Results
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Mark Foster shot 3-over-par 145, while Evan Bowser shot an even-par score of 71 in the second round to post 147 (+5), to lead the Oakland men's golf team to an seventh-place standing (298-296-594/+26) on day one of the NYX Hoosier Invitational on Saturday on the IU Golf Course. Indiana leads with a score of 561 (-7).
"Everyone on this team hurt themselves scoring from inside 120 yards and it should be where we help our score," said OU coach Russ Cunningham. "Not quite the improvement I was looking for in round two, but if all five players perform to their ability, then we could shoot a low number tomorrow."
Foster is currently in a tie for 16th place and Bowser stands in a tie for 23rd place. IU's David Mills holds the lead heading into the final round, tallying a score of 6-under-par 136 (70-66). He is one shot ahead of Illinois State's Tyler Gentilella (65-72).
"Mark (Foster) is hitting it very well right now, so if he could get hot with the putter, there is no telling how low he could go," said Cunningham.
The third and final round will begin with a shot gun start at 9 a.m. ET.
