Day 1 Results

INDUSTRY, Calif. - Evan Bowser shot an opening round of 75 to end the first day in a tie for 14th place and lead the Oakland men's golf team on day one of the Folino Invitational on Sunday. The Golden Grizzlies shot 316 (+28) and are currently in ninth place.

"This course is a very good test of golf and being our first round on grass I wasn't expecting any great scores," said OU coach Russ Cunningham. "I can accept the bad shots and a poor score, but the self-defeating attitude is not acceptable. It doesn't matter the time of year, golf is all about being patient, having fun, and playing with confidence. We do that and good things will happen!"

UC Irvine leads after 18 holes with an opening round of 290 (+2), four shots ahead of Long Beach State (294/+6). LBSU's Raymond Ho and Sacramento State's Ryan Williams each shot 69 (-3) on the first day to share the lead.

Mark Foster was the only other OU player to break 80 in Round 1, finishing with a score of 78 and stands in a tie for 34th place. The second of three rounds will be played on Monday.
