ROCHESTER, Mich. - Joey Tinnion netted two second-half goals to lead the Oakland men's soccer team (4-2-4, 2-0-1 HL) over Detroit (1-5-4, 0-2 HL), 2-1 in a Horizon League match Saturday night at the OU Soccer Field. The goals are the third and fourth on the season for the junior forward.

"Credit to Detroit because they came out well and forced us to play their game in the first half," said head coach Eric Pogue. "We made some tactical adjustments in the second half and started taking over the game and Joey (Tinnion) is just an opportunist who took his chances well. This has been a rivalry game for a number of years and it has only ramped up with us moving into the Horizon League."

Tinnion scored the game-winning goal in the 74th minute as he received a pass from the outside by Gavin Hoy, made a cut at the top of the box and took a hard, low shot to the left post that got by the goalkeeper. In the 73rd minute and down a goal, Sean Lewis would make a brilliant breakaway save on Detroit's Jason Leslie to keep the game at 1-1 and allow OU to get the game winner.

Down 1-0 after the first half, the Golden Grizzlies would strike in the 67th minute as Jacob VanderLaan played the ball to Tinnion who was able to chip it over UDM's Nathan Steinwascher to tie the match. The Titans would get on the board first in the 21st minute as Leslie would score on a one-timer from close range on a pass by Adam Bedell to the right of the goal.

Lewis would finish the match with four saves allowing one goal and UDM's Steinwascher had three saves and gave up two goals.

The Golden Grizzlies will be back on the pitch on Monday as they host Denver at the OU Soccer Field starting at 7 p.m.
