ROCHESTER, Mich.- The Oakland softball team (6-32, 3-15) will host its final Summit League home series of the year as they take on IUPUI (14-28, 5-10) in a three-game set this weekend starting with a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 3 p.m. at the OU Softball Field. The Golden Grizzlies have won three out of their last four games this season and hold a 23-16 advantage over the Jaguars all-time.
Oakland is coming off of a split with Toledo on Wednesday at Scott Park Softball Complex. Brittany Doyle threw a complete game, giving up only three runs, two earned, to earn the victory, while Erika Polidori and Colleen Zimmerman both had 2-RBI doubles to lead the Golden Grizzlies to a 5-3 in the first game.
IUPUI is coming off a midweek split with Dayton, winning 10-5 and losing 2-1 at home on Tuesday. The Jaguars are led offensively by Nicole Checkie, who is tops on the team in batting average at .311, hits with 37, on-base percentage at .390 and slugging percentage at .420. Jenny Royse leads the team in home runs with four and RBIs with 20. In the circle, IUPUI is led by Jocelyn Oppenhuis, with a 5-11 record with a 2.83 ERA, and Nikki Thomas, with a 6-14 record and 2.85 ERA.
