CEDAR CITY, Utah - Shannon Cleveland had a base hit and scored a run and Erin Galloway hit a double as the Oakland softball team fell in the series finale at Southern Utah 10-2 in six innings at Kathryn Berg Field Saturday afternoon.

"We had a rough series this weekend," said assistant coach Monique Johnson. "They need to go home and do some soul searching this week and come back next weekend playing the game they love the way it should be played."

Brittany Doyle (1-4) suffered the loss throwing 3.0 innings, giving up six earned runs and fanned two batters. Bailee Braunreuther threw 2.2 innings in relief, giving up four runs, three earned, and struck out two batters.

Oakland scored a run in the second inning as Cleveland was able to cross home before Shelby Gott was tagged out attempting to steal second base. The Golden Grizzlies added another run in the third inning after a successful double steal scored Alivia Nikolaus from third and moved Erika Polidori to second base.

SUU's Kadi Henderson went 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs including a three-run home run in the fourth inning and Kelsey Bryant drove in three runs on a home run in the second inning. The Thunderbirds' Heather Black (9-4) threw 4.0 innings giving up two earned run on only five hits and striking out two batters.

The Golden Grizzlies will be on the field next weekend as they continue league play at IPFW on March 16 with a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. at the IPFW Softball Field.
