ROCHESTER, Mich.- Olivia Nash had a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Annemarie Hamlet scored 20 as Oakland (2-0) won, 70-60 over American (0-2) at the Athletics Center O'rena on Monday. The Golden Grizzlies improve to 2-0 for the first time since the 2008-09 season.

"It's nice to be 2-0, I was told that the last time that happened was 2008-09," said OU head coach Beckie Francis. "We've been practicing really well and the team has been working really hard. They're really coachable and I'm extremely proud of them."

A 3-pointer by Nash at the 16:31 mark of the second half sparked a 20-8 run by the Golden Grizzlies that broke open a tight game. After a low-scoring first half, OU shot 56.5 percent from the field and scored 42 points in the second half.

Hamlet led OU in scoring for the second straight game, going 6-for-10 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 at the free-throw line. She helped the Oakland bench outscore the American reserves 31-18.

OU led 15-5 early in the first half, but the Eagles did not relent and took a 24-23 on a pair of free throws by Alexis Dobbs with less than two minutes left in the half. Amy Carlton had the response for OU as she drained a 3-pointer less than 20 seconds later. Elena Popkey ended the half with a leaner in the lane to complete a 5-0 Oakland run to end the first half.

Four players finished in double-digits for the Black and Gold, as Victoria Lipscomb had 11 and Popkey ended the night with 10 points. Oakland shot 51.1 percent from the field and knocked in 17-of-21 (81.0%) free throws. OU also managed to outrebound the Eagles 42-32 behind Nash's second consecutive double-double of her freshman campaign.

Jen Dumiak scored 20 to lead American in scoring. It was the second consecutive game with 20 or more points for the sophomore guard. Geleisa George added 11 points, while Dobbs and Shaquilla Curtis scored nine each.

Oakland will close out its current three-game home stand on Friday against Buffalo at the O'rena at 6:30 p.m.
