ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Alyssa Fulton scored the match-winner for Oakland (8-5-3, 5-2) in a 1-0 win over IUPUI (3-13-3, 1-4-2) on Friday night at the OU Soccer Field. The win sends the Golden Grizzlies to the top of The Summit League standings and secures the team's spot in the league tournament.

"Our players did a fantastic job," said Oakland head coach Nick O'Shea. "Alyssa got the goal, but we could've had a lot more. I thought we played well from the opening whistle to the end of the game. We didn't allow them any quality chances and we completely outshot them, in what was a great team effort."

In a match that was dominated offensively by Oakland, Fulton won the match for the Black and Gold with a header in the 59th minute. Erin Ring beat her defender down the sideline and sent in a cross to Fulton who put it in the back of the net. It was the first goal of the year for the senior and just the second of her career.

The Golden Grizzlies outshot the Jaguars 26-6 and had a number of near misses that would've increased the margin of victory. Meghan Reynolds came close in the first half with a hard shot that hit the right post. Late in the second half, Kyla Kellermann had a shot that hit the crossbar and bounced out.

Shannon Coley made four saves and earned her fifth shutout of the year in net for Oakland. Coley's counterpart, Giselle Guzman, was more active making 13 saves for the Jags.

With just one match left in the season, the Golden Grizzlies take on Western Illinois Sunday at 1 p.m. The match is a meeting of the two teams tied for the best record in The Summit League and will determine the regular season league champion.

Oakland will also celebrate Senior Day on Sunday, recognizing the careers of the team's seven seniors. OU will recognize Brianna Bowery, Brittany Brown, Shannon Coley, Nicole DeLuca, Alyssa Fulton, Marlen Knoph, Kristen Steffes and Kara Weber.
