VERMILLION, S.D. -- Two first-half goals by Kyla Kellermann led Oakland (7-4-3, 4-1) to a 2-0 win over South Dakota (5-7-1, 2-2) on Sunday at the USD Soccer Complex. It was the sixth shutout of the season for the Golden Grizzlies.

"South Dakota fought hard and the wind made it difficult to play," said head coach Nick O'Shea. "We stayed committed early in the game and came away with two goals. After that both teams had chances, but it was a scrappy game."

Kellermann opened the scoring the in the 20th minute. After a shot by Nicole DeLuca forced a good save, Kellermann was the quickest to react to the rebound and scored the opening goal.

Less than five minutes later it was Kellermann who scored again, this time she finished off a nice combination play from Meghan Reynolds and Abigail Haelewyn. With eight goals this season, Kellermann leads The Summit League in scoring.

Oakland outshot the hosts 13-7 and finished with a 7-2 edge in shots on goal. The Golden Grizzlies platooned goalkeepers and both Shannon Coley and Payj O'Shea collected one save each in the combined shutout.

"We're glad to be back on the winning track and are looking forward to a one-game weekend," added O'Shea. "Sarah Reynolds, Julianne Boyle, Jamie Horne and Kyla Kellermann all played very well for us today."

The Golden Grizzlies wrap up a three-match road swing on Saturday with a match at Fort Wayne that is set to kickoff at 5:30 p.m. The game is part of a doubleheader with the Oakland men's team.
