Day 1 Results 
CLEVELAND - Mark Foster shot a 1-under-par 143 (73-70) to take the first-day lead and Evan Bowser carded a 3-under-par 69 in the first round to lead the Oakland men's golf team to the lead at the Cleveland State Invitational on Monday at Canterbury Golf Club. The Golden Grizzlies shot 583 (+7) and hold a seven-shot lead over host CSU.
"Very much a team effort today," said OU coach Russ Cunningham. "A couple of the guys lost strokes early due to the severity of the pin locations, but once they adjusted to the speed of the greens, I could see their confidence building. We are getting one great score each round and that's keeping us competitive. We are in a good position going into tomorrow, but as any golf fan knows, it doesn't matter how good a feeling anyone has, each player has to show up and commit to the process and the results will take care of themselves."
Foster holds a one-shot advantage over Wright State's Cody Fixari and OU's Bowser who both finished at even-par 144. Cameron Nelson finished the first day with an overall score of 149 (+5) and is in a tie for ninth place.
Nick Cunningham posted an opening round 73 and stands in a tie for 17th place with teammate Alex Turner with a score of 151 (+7). The third and final round will begin on Tuesday morning.
